We provide the following types of Marlins tests:

  1. ICS Marlins English Language Test for Seafarers
    This test is specifically designed for seafarers and assesses their ability to use English in the working conditions onboard a vessel. Successful completion of this test confirms compliance with international requirements and standards.

  2. Marlins English Language Test for Offshore Workers
    This test is intended for offshore industry workers. It evaluates their English proficiency in the context of specific tasks and conditions faced by employees on offshore platforms and installations.

What modules are included in the Marlins Test?

The Marlins Test for Mariners is designed to evaluate various aspects of language and professional communication in a maritime environment. The test consists of several modules, each focusing on a different skill:

  • Listening – 25 Questions
    Sailors listen to audio recordings related to maritime topics and tasks, assessing their ability to understand spoken English.

  • Grammar – 30 Questions
    This module tests understanding of grammatical structures, sentence formation, and verb tenses.

  • Vocabulary – 15 Questions
    Questions in this module focus on maritime terminology, common everyday words, and the sailor’s overall vocabulary.

  • Time and Numbers – 5 Questions
    Sailors are tested on their ability to accurately choose numbers (such as time) based on what they hear.

  • Reading – 1 Text, 6 Questions
    This module includes reading a text related to maritime work, such as safety rules or navigation, followed by questions to assess comprehension.

Test Details:

  • Total Time: 60 minutes
  • Total Questions: 85

The questions are randomly selected from a common test database, so each time you take the test, you may encounter different tasks.
